On May 21st 1998, the Erie Maritime Museum opened its doors as the first new PHMC museum in twenty years. The Museum is the homeport for the U.S. Brig Niagara, a replica of the original US Brig Niagara, a brig which played a pivotal role in the Battle of Lake Erie and the victory of Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry during the War of 1812. The Museum offers a wide range of multi-media and interactive exhibits and coupled with lively interpretive programs.
